How I handle your information

La Web Office is run by me, Ricardo Penafiel. This page explains, in plain words, what information I collect on laweboffice.com, why, where it is kept and what you can ask me to do with it. I don't sell your information, and I don't use it for anything other than your preview, your website and emails about them.

Who is responsible

I am the person responsible for your personal information: Ricardo Penafiel, La Web Office, Montreal, QC, Canada. You can reach me at rpenafiel@laweboffice.com.

What I collect

When you request a free preview: your first name, business name, email, and your website or Google Maps link.
On the next page, if you choose to: your answers about your business, and any logo, photos or files you upload.
If you reserve a founding spot: the fact that you clicked, and when.
If you email me: your message and any files you attach.
Public information about your business that I use to build your preview, such as your Google listing, your Google reviews and your current website.
Basic technical data: like most websites, the company that hosts this site may record things such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the site running and to count visits.

Why I use it

To build your free preview and send it to you.
To answer your questions and send you emails about your preview and my website offer.
To build your full website, if you decide to go ahead.
To keep basic records of who asked for what, and when.

When you send the form, you agree to receive these emails. Every email I send you can be answered with "unsubscribe", and I'll stop.

Where it is kept, and who helps me

I use a few service providers to run this. They keep the information on their servers:

Google (Google Workspace): my email, and the spreadsheet and Drive folders where your request, answers and files are saved.
Lovable: hosts this website.
Web3Forms: a backup that emails me your preview request if the spreadsheet can't be reached at that moment.
Google Fonts: loads the letters you see on this site, so your browser connects to Google to get them.

These providers may store information outside Quebec and Canada, for example in the United States, where it is subject to local laws. I only share what each one needs to do its job.

Cookies and your browser

I don't use advertising or tracking cookies. After you send the form, your browser keeps your email and business name in that tab only, so the next page can show them back to you. It is deleted when you close the tab and is never sent anywhere from there.

How long I keep it

If you don't become a client, I keep your information for up to 2 years after our last contact and then delete it. If you become a client, I keep what I need for as long as I work on your website and for the time the law requires for business records. You can ask me to delete it sooner.

Your rights

You can ask me, at any time and for free:

what information I have about you, and for a copy of it;
to correct it;
to delete it, or to stop emailing you.

Write to rpenafiel@laweboffice.com. I'll answer within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with my answer and you live in Quebec, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Security

Your information is kept in password-protected accounts, and only I have access to it. No system is perfectly secure, but I'll tell you if something happens that puts your information at risk.

Changes

If I change this policy, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change is important, I'll also email the people it affects.
